False alarm for wireless PIR motion sensor

Solution

Dear Techsupport,

We have an issue at one of our clients. They have connected 5 PIR sensors throughout the house and received 4 x false alarm in 2 weeks time.

 We have checked the following:
 - no pets
 - no direct sunlight which could cause a sudden increase of room temperature
 - no airflows in the rooms where PIR’s are installed

In order to isolate the problem we have programmed the PIR’s over different zones so we are able to determine which zone is causing the false alarm.

In the meantime i would like to ask you to help us solve the problem. What is your experience with false alarm and what would your recommendation be to solve this issue?

 Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your E-mail.

1. In order to avoid the false alarm, you need to install the sensor properly.

2. Go to the PIR motion sensor, and adjust its delay time (pulse count)
5S is for testing, 50s and 5 min are for usage.

3. Using the good quality wireless PIR motion sensor.

Can you give an description how this exactly works? What does this delay and when would you recommend 50 sec and when 5 min?

We have bought the WH-400 motions, isn’t this good quality?

Hello Otto Boot,

2. The delay setting is the time gap between first sensing and second sensing.
The default value is 5s, which is for testing purpose. You need to move the jumper from 5s to 50s or 5 min.
This also can reduce the usage of energy and prolong battery life expectancy.

3. VS-WH400 is normal quality PIR motion sensor. VS-WH500 is the high quality one which has true temperature and DSP design.
